How to Join:
The Blue Card Process

A "Blue Card" form from Lakeland Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc., affiliated with NRA, with a requirements checklist, and space for official signatures to confirm completion of specific membership process requirements.

Your path to full membership in the Lakeland Rifle & Pistol Club

Membership Requirements

Background Check

Every applicant begins with an application and a Level II background check ($100 application fee includes the cost of the background check). This helps us maintain a safe environment for all members.

Once your background check clears, you officially enter the Blue Card Process — a series of membership requirements that can be completed in almost any order, with flexibility to fit your schedule.

All items may be done as your schedule allows, except volunteer service, which begins only after meeting the Board.

Orientation & Training

Complete both online and in-person orientation covering:

  • Range safety procedures and commands

  • Hot / Cold range conditions

  • A short live-fire demonstration to confirm safe firearm handling

This ensures all new members start with the same safety foundation.

Meet the Board

Before volunteering or representing LRPC publicly, attend a meeting with the Board of Directors.

It’s friendly but official—a moment of introduction and approval that confirms you’re ready to represent the Club.

It also helps everyone put faces to names and builds the sense of community that defines LRPC.

Match Participation

Shoot in two matches of your choice—pistol, rifle, or shotgun.

These experiences connect you with other members and help you learn range flow and scoring.

Volunteer Service

Complete two volunteer shifts (about two hours each) after your Board meeting.

You can help at matches, the Junior Program, the Central Florida Gun Show, or occasional work parties.

Membership Vote

When your Blue Card is fully signed off, attend a General Membership Meeting.

You’ll introduce yourself, step out briefly while the vote is taken, and—barring any objections—be welcomed as a full member.

Welcome to LRPC!

Once voted in, you’ll:

  • Pay prorated dues

  • Receive your official member ID card

  • Be issued your traditional yellow hat—simple, symbolic, and earned

Congratulations! You’ve joined a club built on Safety, Skill, and Community.

Yellow baseball cap with an embroidered patch reading 'Lakeland Rifle & Pistol Club' and featuring crossed rifles and pistols.
