The LRPC Junior Program 2026-27 season begins on October 3.
The LRPC Junior Program is a free program for community youth ages 7-17. We provide all required equipment, including the firearms, ammunition, targets, ear and eye protection, as well as supervision.
Advanced Juniors registration is at 9:30 am on the 50-yard range, with a safety briefing at 10:00. Beginning Juniors registration is at 12:30 pm on the 50-yard range, with a safety briefing at 1:00 pm. Participants must attend the safety briefing to participate in the shooting. A parent or legal guardian must sign a liability waiver and remain on site during the event.
Gun Show Special Bundle: Weekend Admission + CCW Class
When you buy a ticket to the show ($10 for LRPC members with ID; $15 general admission), you can also take a two-hour concealed carry class for just $30—half the regular $60 price.
Why consider a license when Florida does not require one?
• Recognition in 37 other states through reciprocity, subject to each state’s laws
• Exemption from Florida’s firearm-purchase waiting period after the required background check
• Training in firearm safety, Florida law, prohibited locations, and important carry do’s and don’ts
The class will be presented by Lakeland Firearms & Training Center and taught by NRA- and USCCA-certified instructors.
Saturday, September 19 — 1:00 p.m. | Sunday, September 20 — 12:00
Classes will be held at the SUN ’n FUN Local Information Center, just a short walk from the Skylight Hangar. Register and pay at the show.
The class meets Florida’s training requirements for a concealed weapon or firearm license and includes supervised firearm discharge and a course-completion certificate. It is not range-practice training. Fingerprinting and license-application processing are not included.

The Central Florida Gun Show returns September 19–20 at the SUN ’n FUN Expo Campus — Skylight Hangar. Saturday, September 19, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, September 20, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
LRPC members receive discounted admission: $10 covers the entire weekend.
Please help us spread the word! Our visitors come from throughout Central Florida, so don’t limit your sharing to Lakeland or Polk County. Board Changes
LRPC has recently had several changes to its Board of Directors.
At the July Board meeting, Dawn Drake accepted the position of Board Secretary. At the August meeting, Rick Brown was elected to fill the resulting open Director position.
Also in August, Lash McCall stepped down from the Board and as Safety Chairman. The Board thanked him for his many years of service to LRPC and wished him well.
At the Sept Board meeting, Marty Hancock was appointed by the Board to fill the Director seat opening created when Lash resigned.
We appreciate the time and commitment all of our Board members give to the Club.

Volunteers Needed
Paul Julian, Club Maintenance, often has projects that he would welcome some help with. If you’re interested in earning some volunteer hours helping maintain/improve the club facilities, contact Paul at the number below. This can contribute to $10/hour credit on your next year’s dues or credit toward Blue Card membership requirements (2 hrs = 1 shift).
